Marquetry
Traditionally, the word „marquetry“ is associated with the cabinet making technique of inlaying various veneers upon a support in order to produce a picture which relief is given by the different hues and textures of the wood used to that effect.

Contemporary Marquetry
Hannes Bok’s abstract wooden pictures recall contemporary artists, but offer art amateurs a new look upon the use of wood as a matter für modern art.

The art of inlaying
Hannes Bok’s work is unique in the way he masters inlaying technique. His approach to wood is not that of a sculptor’s but a painter’s, he uses veneering as painters their brushes with as much freedom and inspiration, the resulting inlaid wood assembly subtly mingles inlaying with the superposition of colours respecting the wood’s grain.
